What is Non-Credit Learning?
Non-credit courses and programs are short-term learning opportunities designed to support professional development, educational advancement, or personal enrichment. These offerings do not result in college credit but provide valuable skills and knowledge to help you achieve your goals.

Registering for a Skills@UC course or program is simple! Explore available offerings at skills.uc.edu to find the course or program that fits your needs. When you’re ready, follow the instructions on the Registration Page to complete your enrollment.
Skills@UC provides non-credit courses and programs that do not carry academic credit.
Skills@UC courses and programs are offered in a variety of formats.
In Person: Courses/programs are instructor-facilitated on campus or at another location at scheduled dates and times.
Online-Live: Courses/programs are instructor-facilitated in a virtual classroom at scheduled dates and times. These are often referred to as synchronous courses/programs.
Online-Self-Paced: Courses/programs are online to be completed independently within an established timeframe, allowing participants to progress at their own time and pace. These are often referred to as asynchronous courses/programs.
Blended/Multi-Modal: Courses/programs are offered in a combination of the above modalities.
All courses and programs offered through Skills@UC are non-credit and do not appear on a University of Cincinnati transcript. You will receive a Learning Record, a personalized report documenting your non-credit learning at the University of Cincinnati. You can view your enrollment history and download a copy of your Learning Record on the Skills@UC Learner Portal.
Some Skills@UC courses and programs offer non-credit innovative credentials upon completion. These credentials validate your achievement, knowledge, or skills. For more information, visit our Innovative Credentials page.
Additionally, some courses and programs are designed to prepare you for an industry-recognized credential. In these cases, Skills@UC provides the preparation, but the credential itself is awarded by an external organization.
A badge is a digital representation of the innovative credential earned when you successfully complete a course or program. At the University of Cincinnati, badges are issued through Credly. For more information about Credly’s digital badges, check out this Credly article.
Digital badges highlight your knowledge, skills, and competencies through embedded, secure, and authenticated data. Badges are accessible and verifiable, providing value to both you and employers.
Digital badges are designed to be shared! You are encouraged to showcase your badges on resumes, email signatures, and social media profiles to highlight your achievements.
